Turning Wood Into Art 2009

During the three weekends of McLean Berry Farm's MapleFest, the Village Gallery in Lakefield will feature woodturnings made from various types of Maple trees. The feature will include samples of raw wood, photos and turnings at various stages of the process and, of course, the finished art pieces themselves. Adjacent to the gallery at 11 Queen Street in Lakefield, The Chocolate Rabbit will present yummy Maple Chocolate!

A satellite display from The Village Gallery with items for sale will also be on hand at McLean's Berry Farm for the first tapping at MapleFest on Saturday, March 7, as well as the first weekend of the festival on Saturday, March 21. www.villagegallery.ca

Flip a Flapjack for Fun! - Sunday March 29/2009

Mainstreet Landing from 1-3

The Buckhorn & District Tourist Association invites you to get your friends together to participate in the Buckhorn Maplefest Flapjack Race!

On Sunday, March 29 from 1 to 3 p.m., teams of 3 will go head-to-head at Mainstreet Landing on Lakehurst Road in Buckhorn.

The race will consist of an obstacle course. Each team member, one at a time, will flip two flapjacks (already prepared) into a pan, go to the first cone, flip the pancakes, run to the next cone, flip the pancakes, then run to the last cone and flip the pancakes to another team member who has the plate. The next two team members, one at a time, will take the pans back to the start and run the course the same way. Once six flapjacks are on the plate, the team will add maple syrup to the stack and all three will eat the flapjacks. The first team to eat their plate clean will be declared the winner.

There will be a maximum of 10 teams, so register today!
